London, Auckland and Singapore have been announced as Founding Cities in a ground-breaking new global initiative designed to get millions of people active in cities around the world.
Pioneering the way to a more active world
We are delighted to announce the launch of Active Citizens Worldwide (ACW) in partnership with Auckland, London and Singapore as founding cities in a ground-breaking global initiative designed to get millions more people active.
ACW will help city leaders across the world achieve a positive step-change in physical activity levels through in-depth analysis, multi-city collaboration and global benchmarking. This will provide them with a deep, fact-based understanding of what drives the activity levels of their citizens.
For too long policymakers have had to rely only on high level case studies and general good practices from other cities, combined with trial and error, when designing physical activity interventions. Portas are committed, through ACW, in supporting policymakers and agencies to implement the most effective strategies and interventions for their city based on deep insights.
It is time major cities worldwide realise fully the potential of physical activity to make a positive impact on health, societal and economic outcomes.
