The Sport, Health and Activity Realisation Programme, SHARP, was established by Portas in 2016 to grow awareness of the health benefits of sport and physical activity. With rising levels of non-communicable diseases across the world, more needs to be done to empower individuals, communities and nations to make physical activity part of every day life.
Our approach embeds physical activity within healthcare and preventative medicine, creating a collective effort across different sectors and disciplines that has been proven to deliver results. Our support to governments, public health bodies and corporate entities covers:
We help clients to develop a fact-based national health and physical activity policy which outlines the roadmap to advance sports and physical activity and realise the greatest health benefits.
Strategy Development and Implementation
Building on the policy, we support the end-to-end development and delivery of thematic strategies to bring the policy to life, design linked initiatives, implementation plans, budgets and identify the roles of major stakeholders who will lead delivery.
Programme Design and Delivery
We support policy makers, sports bodies and other health focused organisations to design and deliver sport and physical activity programmes by actively monitoring progress against targeted goals, developing organizational capacity and capability and building meaningful partnerships to ensure success.
