Elena Portas
Senior Expert Manager
Elena is a Senior Expert Manager currently leading our work and wider research on community impact and grassroots sports, particularly women and girls' participation. She has advised governments, cities, national and international federations, and leading apparel brands on their participation strategies and role in social and community impact. Elena is also a serving board member of The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA) and Courtside.

Elena is a Senior Expert Manager currently leading our work and wider research on community impact and grassroots sports. She is an expert on the link between health and physical activity in women and girls and has advised governments, cities, national and international federations, and leading apparel brands on their role in social and community impact.
Elena is also a serving board member of The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA) and Courtside. She is passionate about supporting the next generation of young people to have better pathways to non-executive director roles.
Prior to joining Portas, she gained experience in the health sector throughout her roles at GlaxoSmithKline and health technology start-ups. Elena is a graduate from the University of Manchester where she received a BSc in Biomedical Sciences. She is also a passionate dancer and was the teacher and captain of the University of Manchester contemporary dance team.
