Japan Office Leader
Chiaki is the Japan Office Leader at Portas, with 18 years of experience. She focuses on launching the Japan office and managing Japan projects. Chiaki previously worked in various roles in the sports industry worldwide. She holds a Master of Science in Therapeutic Recreation Management from Springfield College, a Master of Arts in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa, and a PhD (ABD) in Physical Education, Health, and Sport Sciences from the University of Tsukuba.

Chiaki is currently focusing on launching the Japan office, building credibility, and expanding the Japan market at Portas. She is managing Japan projects, from national federation strategies to international market assessments, and providing Japan-related knowledge support for other projects worldwide. Chiaki's key expertise includes para-sports and sports partnerships/sponsorships.
Before joining Portas, in addition to her experience at L.E.K. Consulting as a Consultant, Chiaki worked in various roles in the sports industry worldwide, including overseeing Team Japan operations at Special Olympics Nippon (Japan), serving as an instructor at the National Sports Center for the Disabled in the U.S.A., and contributing to the Athlete Development Committee at Special Olympics Canada. She also worked as a translator for Japan’s women national field hockey team and have been to multiple major tournaments and Games including Asian Games 2022, and have also held the position of Senior Manager of Consulting Services at Nielsen Sports Japan. She also served as the Team Attaché for Team Canada (Canadian Olympic Committee & Canadian Paralympic Committee) at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Chiaki holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Leisure Studies from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Science in Therapeutic Recreation Management from Springfield College, a Master of Arts in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa, and a PhD (ABD) in Physical Education, Health, and Sport Sciences from the University of Tsukuba. She played competitive lacrosse in Japan and Canada.
