Asahi is a Partner and Head of APAC at Portas, with 20 years of experience. His areas of expertise include government sport policy, sector development, sport participation and social impact. Asahi previously worked as an advisor to Tony Blair and held roles at UNDP and McKinsey & Company. He holds an MA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Asahi leads Portas’ APAC business and serves as the Global Public and Social Sector Lead. He leads Portas' thinking on government sport policy, sector development, federation transformation, sport participation and social impact. Asahi has led multi-year data and insights projects for social impact programming, strategic advisory for national sports agencies, and physical activity studies for governments.
Before joining Portas, Asahi worked as an advisor to Tony Blair and Director for Asia at Tony Blair Associates. He also held roles at UNDP, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and McKinsey & Company.
Asahi is bilingual in Japanese and English, holds an MA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Bristol. He enjoys playing football, running, skiing, golf, hiking and dance, and is a proud owner of a season ticket at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
